Cimetière allemand de la Maison Blanche

Route Départementale 937 Arras-Béthune - 62580 NEUVILLE ST VAAST

This cemetery created by the French military authorities from 1919 to 1923, is the largest German military cemetery in France.

44 830 soldiers are buried in mass graves and under black crosses. German cemeteries look like forests, for in German mythology, forests symbolise the paradise of warriors where trees keep vigil so that the warriors may rest in peace.
