Built on common Lens and Lievin 1960, this modern city illustrates the ability of experimentation and renewal Collieries in terms of workers' housing.

In the context of the housing shortage after World War II, they turn to this particular method of constructing prefabricated said "Camus" in reference to the name of the engineer who developed. Former employee in automobile production, Raymond Camus adapted the method of assembly to develop a system of rational and industrialized building. Concrete panels used to build the units are manufactured in factories and transported by truck to the site where they are assembled by crane in a few days. As opposed to "high Camus" built on three levels, "Camus down" the city 9a are single storey.
