This heap, the longest in Europe, is now classified as Sensitive Natural Area by the Department of the Pas-de-Calais.

Consists of a mosaic of habitats which gives it great ecological interest, it seems like a huge ship stranded in the middle of the plain of Gohelle. Ranked by prefectural decree Biotope Protection since 1982, he became an area for wildlife.

His training took place in three stages: the base was established at the end of the last century, the slope is high between the two wars and the plateau is formed by the last excavation pit 6 Lievin.

It has all the stages of plant reconquest, contains more than two hundred species of plants, houses birds, lizards and frogs.

Three walking routes, from 1.5 to 5 km, criss Bing and allow year-round access to the top of the plateau.
