To see:
- The Museum of the School and the Mine: Harnes has long been cited as an example for the quality of teaching, the curiosity of his children and for the courage and determination of the miners and their families. That's what this museum communicates to its visitors for over 20 years. A classroom at the time brings together hardware and training materials, recalling the teaching of the past. Further, the mine galleries and rooms are scenes of time (coffee of the minor, the settlement, the pit, etc.).
- The Museum of History and Archaeology: Housed in an old mansion, the museum has four rooms in an array of events of two world wars and their local consequences. The museum also devotes a room to an exhibition of old photographs that reflects the evolution of the city from 1900 to 1950. Another theme illustrated by the museum, local archeology.
- The lagoon: Designed to treat environmentally friendly waste water lagoons Harnes has become a recreational area popular with joggers and walkers. Installed on the old pit 9, the lagoon covers 15 ha of water and greenery near the channel Lens. There is a vast ecosystem developed: 140 animal species (amphibians, insects, reptiles, birds, ...) and 200 plant species (hawthorn, iris yellow viper, ...) were counted.
- The wood of Florimond: the wood of 34 ha serves as a backdrop to the lagoon. Various activities can be enjoyed such as fishing, football, tennis and hiking.
