This monument was erected by the veterans organizations in North Africa in memory of the 700 young people in the Pas-de-Calais killed between 1952 and 1964.

It was inaugurated September 22, 2002. The three important elements that constitute it are the door, the flame and the monument. The latter is a slightly raised map of North Africa. A hollow cube, symbol of the earth, surrounded by a circular pool, a symbol of heaven, contains at its heart, another cube, red, symbol of the missing. On the walls, the names of 700 who died for France are engraved. The driveway slab is dotted with white tiles black equal to the number of those killed.
